Leonardo was born in Florence, but is Milanese by adoption. He started out studying the classics before taking a degree in electrical engineering in 1992 in Florence and an "executive master" diploma in Business Administration at the Production Engineering Department, Polytechnic University of Milan in 2003. He has dealt with the Internet and business since 1999. After a period spent working abroad at Fuji Electric in Tokyo, he worked in leading Italian landline and mobile telecommunications companies (Italtel, Omnitel, Omnitel 2000 and Vodafone) and Internet service companies (Matrix Communication, KMatrix and Virgilio Web Services). He was in charge of the Omnitel 2000 portal, and went on to deal with Web project management, digital marketing and e-business development at Matrix-Virgilio. He founded his own company DML - Digital Marketing Lab in 2007, in the wake of his book “Fare business con il web” (Doing Business on the Web) published by Lupetti Editore in 2006.
